In life we are often found in challenging situations, situations that will demand the best version of ourselves if we plan to break through to the other-side.
Like the saying goes, “on the other side of pain, is reward.”
Many times throughout life you are going to stumble and you are going to reach low moments.
It’s within these exact moments, that you must catch yourself or you will stay down there for a long time.
So the valuable question becomes—How do you better yourself for life’s daily challenges?
The answer is quite simple, yet very challenging — you just start.
The trick to starting something new, is that you need to start small and start slow.
Kind of like riding a bicycle for the first time. If you hop on with no experience and try to go fast, most likely you will lose balance and fall off rather quickly.
However, if you take an approach that moves more in line with patience and trying to find momentum, you will find better results.
Start By Doing 1 Pushup
Pushups are difficult to master. A very effective body weight exercise that provides many benefits to your body other than just muscles.
Pushups help to improve your core, breathing technique, and your overall cardiovascular health.
But, the problem is that they are difficult and not many people are willing to take on something difficult and hammer it until they have mastered it.
The consistent pursuit of executing pushups each and every day of your life is a great way to build self-discipline and get stronger. And not just physically, mentally too.
Just start by executing one pushup each day until one becomes too easy and you progress from there.
Start By Drinking 1 Cup of Water A Day
Water intake is a challenging thing for people to stay on-top of.
Most of us don’t track our water intake we don’t focus on the importance of staying hydrated throughout our day.
A Rule of thumb is to drink one large cup of water as soon as you wake up in the morning—after you brush your teeth of course.
By doing this one simple habit each day, you should pick up on the habit of properly hydrating your body.
When we wake up in the morning our bodies are dehydrated. A tall cup of water is something that hits the spot.
Stick with this one habit and build upon it. Purchase an insulated water bottle and keep it with you throughout the day.
Start By Paying Down 1 Debt
Financial health is just as important as our physical health.
We take care of our bodies because we want to stay healthy.
We should take care of our financial health the same way—to stay healthy.
Most don’t see it this way and it is why most struggle with financial growth.
A big part in struggling with financial growth is debt.
Over spending and purchasing items you don’t need is a fast track to debt.
The problem here we fail to miss is that excessiveness eats away at our income.
Income is our most powerful tool when searching for wealth and financial confidence.
When it comes to debt, the way out is to pay it down little by little.
Start by gaining an overall financial picture of your situation and use the snowball approach to pay down unwanted debt.
Start By Reading 1 Page A Day
Reading is a great way to feed to the brain some wholesome nutrition.
We feed ourselves and we eat good, but we forget that the brain has its own appetite and should be fed on a daily basis.
Reading can be cumbersome and just not that enjoyable. But I believe you cannot stop there, I believe we must push beyond this discomfort in order to find the true joy and benefits of reading.
I would suggest starting by reading one page of of a good book each day.
Reading one page may not be enough, and you may find yourself digging for that paper edge to turn the page.
By incorporating the daily habit of just reading one page of a good book each day you will slowly progress and build the habit of reading just a little bit each day.
Start By Making 1 Sale A Day
When that great business idea comes to mind don’t blow it away all because the end goal seems to steep to achieve.
When we think about our dreams and our aspirations we can easily get scared and find ourselves back tracking our footsteps all because the mountain seems too incredible to reach the top.
One idea of opening a bakery can ignite a passion within you but as soon as you bring yourself to reality you begin to fear things like monthly rent, materials, employees and you end up getting scared out of your own dream.
What if it doesn’t need to look like that.
What if you could just start your dream from the dirt floor and each day dedicate some time to watering it?
One sale a day mentality is something I learned working in retail management.
All too often, employees would find themselves stressed because the monthly quota was too steep. They worried about not making it.
I would teach just focusing on making one sale a day consistently over time.
What stemmed out of that was less stress on the employees because it sounded a lot simpler and feasible when broken down and they also found themselves closing a lot more than one one sale a day.
Sometimes all we need to do is slow ourselves down and focus on just one sale a day.
Start By Helping 1 Person At A Time
Helping other people has always been a passion for me. When we help other people we are directly walking with God.
At the end of the day our job on this planet is to help our neighbor. Help those around you as much as you can.
Regardless of where you think you might be in life, there is always something positive that we can pass on to another individual.
Think about your circle and reflect on what you can provide to those who you love most in your life.
Start By Deleting 1 Old Contact
Life is ever changing, you will have moments where someone is not helping your situation.
Get rid of negative people within your life.
You are the by product of the 5 closest people you spend your time with.
The people you surround yourself with are going to play a large influence in who you become and what you end up doing in your life.
If you have friends that you know you shouldn’t be hanging around with or people within your life that are not supporting your future dreams, then you need to cut those people loose as quick as possible.
Look to surround yourself with people who share your same ethics, morals and values.
Surround yourself with people who will always be there to pick you up whenever you fall.
Life will bring enough challenges and those challenges will kick you down at times, the last thing you ever need during those moments are people who do not have your best interest in mind.
Start By Walking 1 Lap
Everyone should be walking daily.
The human body is a finely tuned machine and it is built to move.
If you find yourself struggling with your physical health or your mental health, a great way to combat those struggles is to go outside and spend time under the sun while enjoying a nice walk.
Often times it is the sheer laziness that holds us back from achieving our dreams and goals.
We put off walking because it is too hot outside, or we are in a mood and don’t feel like doing it all together.
But I have found through trial, that carrying out a discipline like walking daily can help shape you into a stronger person.
That strength is then transferred into other areas of life.
Start By Writing 1 Paragraph Each Day
Journaling is something that has changed my life and it could change your life too, if you give it the proper try.
Most of us don’t write daily.
Let’s face it, it’s writing, it’s not that fun to most.
Take it from someone who writes daily, it’s a spiritual practice.
Writing daily can be a great way to reflect on your day, look for key learning lessons that you picked up throughout your day and other key elements that you would not pick up on otherwise.
I would recommend to buy a notebook and a special pen that you use only for journaling.
Once you have your notebook or notepad begin writing just one paragraph at the beginning or end of your day.
Journaling first thing in the morning is a great way to set your intentions and move with execution.
