Everyday that we get on earth is an opportunity to reset. You can hit the reset button and start fresh, moving towards your vision. No matter how messed up things are.
Every week that goes by we can do the same. We have a lot going on in our lives. We wake up each day and we take one step forward, putting forth our best effort. Things can get exhausting at times if you don’t learn how to reset yourself for the week ahead.
Here Are 10 Tips That You Can Use To Help You Reset For The Week Ahead
Clean & Organize Your Home
There is nothing like starting off the week with a clean and organized home. I have found that I can get more done throughout the week when I have organized things for myself beforehand.
Taking time to go through the house to work on anything that needs to get done and ensure that the house is nice and clean, removes a lot of work off the table for me throughout the week.
During the week, all I have to do is small maintenance work of putting things back where they belong after using them.
For the most part, the home is clean and when the home is clean, the mind functions better.
Get Some Exercise
Exercise is a great staple to add into your routine. Doing it daily brings about great benefits. But, I know there are those weekend warriors out there that like to use the weekend to get outdoors and burn some steam.
A great way to reset for the week is to get some exercise in on your weekends. Using your free time to incorporate some movement can not only be beneficial for your health, but it is extremely effective to clear your mind.
Get Outdoors
Getting some outdoor time is something that we do often in our home. We love to go for walks, take the kids outside to play, ride some bike, play ball, fly the kite and just get outside to soak up the sun.
Sunlight is extremely important for our mental health. Going outside and just getting that direct sunlight can be a great therapeutic activity to do alone or with your family.
Often times, throughout the week we find ourselves working many hours indoors. Factor in the travel to and from work and you can possibly find yourself going without direct sunlight for days.
If you struggle with mental health, go outside and get some ☀️
Watch A Good Movie 🎥 🍿
We like to watch a good movie on the weekends. It’s a great way to escape from all of the reality, and get enveloped in a different story line for a little while. In our home, we like to find a good movie with our kids and spend some quiet quality time together.
Set Time To Plan & Prep
The goal is to set yourself up for a great week. In order to do that, this requires some time to plan and prepare. Whether the intention is to get more work done, or to move closer to your health goals, or better your relationships, you need to plan and prepare in order to get real results.
Take some time to reflect on what it is that you want to change within your life. Once you have identified that, look for the end result and work backwards from there.
Lastly, each weekend take some time to write down exactly what steps you are going to need to execute each week to move you towards your vision.
Get Some Alone Time
My alone time is my workout time. For me, it just works. However, for other people it may not be the ideal place or activity to spend alone.
Maybe you like to sit in a quiet room and read or pray, walk your dog, or maybe just enjoy a calm bath. Whatever it is, find it and get yourself some consistent alone time.
I believe the alone time gives you time to sit with your thoughts and gain a better understanding and overall self-awareness. You can identify what is going well in your life and what can use some more time and repetition.
Take time for yourself and do the things that bring out the most joy while being alone.
Clean Nutrition
How many times do you walk into work on Monday and everyone is walking around like zombies and they feel like they got hit by a bus? There are different reasons as to a possible why.. 😂
But, believe it or not, a-lot of it has to do with poor eating over the weekend.
I fall victim to unhealthy nutrition on the weekends. I find it so much easier to stay consistent during the week. However, when the weekend hits, it just becomes harder. So, believe me I get it.
The truth is, I have found that clean nutrition over the weekend is one of the best things that you can do for yourself to help you reset for the week. Throughout the week things can become a bit mundane when it comes to nutrition.
Taking time over the weekend to cook something special and keep your overall food choices yummy, but clean will go a long way for your mental state come the new week.
Hydrate
Hydration is vital when it comes to our overall function and health. I think that not enough people are drinking anywhere near the amount of water that they should be drinking.
Most people don’t understand the overall role that water plays in our system. This ranges from our mood, to our appetites, our bodily functions, movements and more.
We need plenty of water to consistently flush our bodies on a daily basis. If you are poor with your water drinking habits, start ensuring yourself that you are well hydrated. If done properly, come Monday your brain will thank you.
Connect With Loved Ones
Work can sideline you very easily from what is important. We spend so much time working that we forget about our relationships. Work is important and being productive is just as important, but make sure to take the time to put everything on pause and connect with your loved ones.
I am blessed to work from home and have my family close by. Everyday, I get to experience just how important connecting with your family really is.
Work On A Hobby
We all have skills that we posses, and often times those skills can be turned into a hobby. Some even turn it into a full blown career or business.
Take time each weekend to work on something that you enjoy and that stimulates your mind. This can be exercise, wood working, editing, cooking; anything that truly makes you happy and gets you working with your hands.
To Wrap It All Up
The work never stops. If you are truly committed towards improving yourself and your life, then you know that the work never ends. Some of us are working 7 days a week just to make it to our dreams.
In order to keep our minds right and to keep our intentions focused, it is really important to take some time each week and reset yourself for the week ahead.
No matter how much you want to work at something, and no matter how much you love that thing – burnout is real.
Take some time to reset for the week ahead — your mind, body and spirit will thank you later.
