Patience Is The Determining Factor TO Your Success On A Body Transformation Journey

Losing 80 plus pounds is a feat. Losing 100 pounds or more is a feat. It’s not easy to hit those numbers and if you do end up achieving that goal, you know damn well what it took to get there.
One of the biggest fallacies in burning body fat and dropping pounds off of your body is the notion to believe that transformations are a quick 30-90 day program and BOOM, you now have a new body.
Discarding the concept of achieving mind-blowing results in the span of weeks and months, and replacing that with an understanding that true change happens over the course of years and decades is what more people need to hear and understand.
I had to learn this the hard way.
The whole purpose and mission behind Believe In Help, is to share experiences and pass golden nuggets that most would charge you for, except here it is free.
Passing on our life experiences is what life is all about. Helping other people make positive change in their own life is what our mission is here on earth.
Although my job is not finished, I can share some value with you that I have learned on my 2 year journey.
Before starting your own journey, consult with a doctor and set a plan that is tailored specifically to you and your current state of health.
The following, are lessons that I picked up along the way and what has worked for me and that can work for you, too.
Let’s Dive Into 11 Lessons That I Learned Through My Health And Fitness Transformation Journey:
1. Knowing Exactly Why You Want To Make A Change Is Important
When it comes to making a true transformation within your life, you must first begin with a deep understanding of yourself, where you currently are in your life, and most importantly, why do you want to make a change.
Most people overlook this.
They jump straight into a workout regimen that they found online and then they search for a guided “diet” that immediately introduces restrictions. They then couple that with a strict time frame of how much weight they need to lose and by when.
I know, because I too have gone down this path. I speak with humility, when I express that this approach, unfortunately, will lead you to failure over and over again.
True transformation begins with a deep understanding of why you want to make such a strong change and shift within your life.
Because believe me, wanting to achieve something like a physical transformation is going to demand a lot out of your human will.
There is a reason why over 60% of the population is struggling with obesity right now.
The work ethic that is required in earning a strong physique is nothing short of brutal. You will pay the price to own the body that you have always dreamed of.
In moments of despair or breaking plan, you are going to want to have a clear answer to provide your brain when it asks you, why are you even trying this to begin with.
“The Body You Want Is Owned By A Higher Version Of Yourself.”
2. Consistency And Intensity Within Your Workouts Trumps All
People have asked me, “What workout did you follow to lose all your weight?”
My answer: I just aimed to sweat. That’s all. Keep it Simple. Keep it consistent. Keep it Intense.
Anything you enjoy to do as exercise, will suffice to start. You just need to be consistent and keep it intense.
The body expels your unwanted body fat through your breath.
That’s right, your unwanted body fat doesn’t just disappear; it is released through your breathing.
Now learning this, you can begin to understand that in order to get your body to burn unwanted body fat and completely transform into a different physique, you must be pushing your body through movements that are going to get you to points of heavy breathing and do them consistently over time.
Sweat profusion is a great indicator as to how far you are pushing your limits. When coupled with physical movement, your body will increase body temperature and it will begin to speed its metabolism to churn body fat.
Therefore, you must find any type of movement in which you feel comfortable doing consistently. This starts off easy, and as your fitness journey improves through your consistency, the difficulty and challenge should increase with you over time.
You must be patient.
Focus on challenging yourself and moving your body consistently each day, to a point where you are breathing heavier than normal and you are sweating.
Keep this up for 1 year and you should have made vast improvements on your overall body composition just by implementing this one rule into your life.
The difficult part is maintaining the consistency and intensity over time, for years.
Once you have proven to yourself that you can maintain consistency, you can then move forward to beginning more advanced workout programs.
3. You Must Be Willing To Make Sacrifices and Embrace An Uncomfortable Lifestyle
If you are not willing to be in a very serious level of discomfort each and every day, then you might want to re-evaluate what you are signing up for.
Every human who has accomplished something special within their own body will tell you that in order to get there, you must be willing to suffer.
If you are not going to be okay with waking up each day, knowing that at some point you need to go do something uncomfortable, something that you might not want to complete, something that is going to get you dirty, sweaty, wet, and undesirable—if you can’t be okay with this, think twice.
True transformation comes with discomfort and suffering. We aren’t talking about losing a quick 10-15 pounds in 30 days, only to gain it all back afterwards.
We are discussing life-lasting change. Change that will shift your body, mind and spirit, ultimately leading you to a better quality of life.
The body transformation you want, is owned by a higher version of yourself.
4. Walk Every Single Day Of Your Life For A Minimum Of 30 Minutes
Of course, gain clearance with a medical professional before adding this to your daily routine.
An effective approach I took to weight loss was simply adding walking into my daily routine.
In the beginning, a simple 30 minute walk around the block each day can provide you with so many benefits apart from just burning calories.
Walking provides you with the opportunity to get some sunlight, move your body, distract your mind, get a view of nature, and bring your stress levels down.
I incorporated 30 minutes of walking each day and slowly built my way up from there.
It was in this process, where I discovered that I should have been doing this everyday of my life. Not for the workout, or the calorie burning, or the physical changes it creates within your body, but for the positive energy it provides.
Challenge yourself to get outside go for some fresh air and a short walk. With medical clearance, challenge yourself to increase those daily steps towards 10,000+ daily steps.
When you wake up first thing in the morning, a brisk 30 minute walk is a great way to start your day.
When you get out of work and come home, a brisk 30 minute walk is a great way to decompress and focus on your family values.
If you are in good health and your doctor can give you clearance to walk outdoors for 30 mins a day, this is a great way to begin your journey.
5. Health And Wellness Within Your Life Should NOT Be An Option, It Should Be A Duty
Somewhere along the line, our upbringing lost the value behind health and wellness.
We prioritize development to our children in many different forms, but we somehow forget the fundamentals of prioritizing health.
We go years and years without prioritizing nutrition and overall daily movement that we believe this aspect of life is an option.
It should NOT be an option.
Working out consistently and prioritizing your nutrition and wellness should be a duty. The problem is nobody is teaching us this in our homes.
When it comes to exercise and physical activity, I can assure you there will be days where you will not want to do it. However, this does not make it optional.
When it comes to nutrition and proper macro and micro nutrient intake, I can also assure you there will be days where you don’t feel like cooking your meals or meal prepping for the week. Again, this does not make it optional.
We have a duty to take care of ourselves and become the best version of ourselves, so that we can give to the world what we truly have to offer.
The more I realized that executing on my daily responsibilities was not optional, things truly changed.
6. Proper Rest And Recovery Is Vital To Your Physical And Mental Progress
Shooting for a full body transformation is a task that is going to demand the best version of you.
A full body transformation will also demand the most out of your daily energy tank. In fact, it will drain it.
The deeper you go into your fitness journey, the more difficult it becomes and the more it demands out of you.
I quickly learned that consistency and intensity, over time, is what creates lasting change.
This leads to importance of protecting your sleep and recovery.
Don’t allow for your sleep to just be something that you do without proper planning and intention.
Take your time to schedule your bedtime and wake up time.
The better your sleep quality becomes, the more energized you will be the following day. This energy is vital and it will be demanded in order to maintain consistency over time.
Remember, a body transformation is going to require the most out of you and if you are not planning and protecting your sleep and energy, you will fail over a broad spectrum of time.
It’s just like driving a car without gas. Once that vehicle hits empty, it will no longer function.
7. Adequate Water Intake Makes A Significant Impact On Your Overall Wellbeing
I walk around with a gallon of water each day and I often get the question, “do you drink all that water?”
The answer is yes. And if your goal is to transform your body, you should be drinking a lot of water each day, too.
Water makes a significant impact on your overall wellbeing.
On a full body transformation, you are going to need to prioritize your water intake.
Adequate water intake is going to help you eliminate excess water retention, keep you feeling full, and will help drive key nutrients to your muscles and organs.
Keep water at the top of your list when challenging your body and mind. It will carry you further and it will help drive those results that you are searching for.
Far too often, we over look the importance of water-intake and we skimp way too much on this one aspect of our daily habits.
If you are currently on your fitness journey and you are not feeling optimal, look into your water-intake and try to increase the amount you consume each day.
8. Understanding That Breaking A Sweat Each Day Is Therapy For The Body Mind And Soul
When I first started my weight loss journey, I began with the motivation to see change in my physical appearance.
Over the years, I had let myself go and it began to affect my day-to-day health.
My motivation was purely based off of moving my body to get rid of the excess body fat, and while it still is a motivator, it is no longer my driving force.
My driving force today, after achieving what I have achieved, is the therapy that daily exercise brings to my body, mind and soul.
There is a direct alignment that takes place with the body, mind, and spirit during physical exercise.
An alignment that truly cannot be expressed through words, but only through the action of actually moving your body and pushing through limits.
Moving your body each day is something that will improve the quality of your life ten-fold.
After years of being on this path, I can honestly say that this has been one of the greatest investment of my lifetime and the knowledge and takeaways should be shared with the world.
If you can take one key point from this blog, it’s this—working out will drastically improve the quality of your life.
Is it hard? Well, yes. This is why most won’t stick with it or even begin.
But, is it worth it? Definitely. It is definitely worth the discomfort and hard work that will be required up front.
9. Learning To Think In Terms Of Years Is A Game Changer In The World Of Fitness
Most people are looking for the quick fix when it comes to a lot of things in life, let alone fitness.
I am here to break that notion.
Can a full body transformation be achieved in a rather short amount of time, that does not include the word, “years”—yes.
Now, will that transformation hold and will the body be maintained over years? For the average person who is not genetically gifted, not likely.
In fact, according to studies 90% of people who lose a significant amount of body fat, tend to gain all of their weight back over the course of 2 years.
Having been a person who has lost a lot of weight, I can totally see why this statistic holds true.
The key here, is to think in terms of years.
When beginning your health journey, it is important to adopt the mindset of understanding that there is no finish line to this.
You will never “arrive.”
The moment you feel like you have “arrived”, you will fail yourself.
This game, is for the rest of your life.
If you think that you can lose weight and then go back to your old habits and lifestyle, you will fail.
You must create a new life, with new habits and a new set of principles for yourself.
Don’t fall for the trap of making life changing habits and achieving that in the span of weeks or months.
No.
This requires years.
The further you can set that finish line back, or abolish the finish line all-together, the better-off you will be.
Remember, studies show that 90% of people rebound and gain all of their weight back, plus more.
Understanding that there is no finish line to this race, is how you will avoid becoming just another statistic.
10. Stop Listening To Other People And Learn To Listen To Your Body
This is a big one.
I am here to share my story and my golden nuggets with the intention to inspire someone to make a positive change within their life.
However, ultimately, the person you should be listening to is yourself.
Listen to your body and become in tune with your body.
I believe the only way to do this is by taking affirmative action and just jumping into the fire.
A full body transformation is not for everyone. Again, it demands the highest version of yourself.
There are plenty of people who have transformed their body and they will tell you there are more ways than one to slice that pie.
These are lessons and principles that worked for me, they may be different for you.
Keep an open mind and soak up as much knowledge as you can from those who have walked the path and have actually lived it.
It’s one thing for a fitness expert to give you advice on losing 80 pounds of body fat, when they have never dealt with obesity. It’s a whole different perspective to receive help from someone who has actually lived it.
Learn to fall in love with the process, apply as many principles as you can that you feel apply to you, and most importantly, listen to yourself and your body.
11. You Cannot Out Work A Bad Diet!
Gotta leave the best for last.
If you truly want to transform your physique, you must change your eating habits!
You CANNOT out-work a bad diet.
Believe me, I have tried 😂
A true transformation of your body, requires transformation of your daily habits.
The foods you decide to eat on your weight loss journey are going to severely impact your results.
You could be doing everything right, but if you are slacking on the nutritional aspect, you will not see the results you are searching for.
Partner with a professional or do research for yourself and find a nutritional blueprint that fits your needs.
Don’t waste your time and energy pushing yourself through difficult workouts, if you are not willing to switch up your food intake.
You will only spin your wheels, get to a level of high frustration, and want to quit all together.
We are over weight because we simply eat too many calories, too much food.
Look for options that will help replace foods that are not healthy and re-train your brain.
Learn to eat in a caloric deficit (burning more calories than you are consuming) the sooner you apply this, the quicker you will see progress in your goals.
Closing Thoughts 💭…
If you are reading this and you are struggling with your weight, my heart goes out to you.
I hope that my experience can help shed light on your journey and spark some new found motivation for you.
Understand, that this process is a long one and you cannot rush it.
You must be willing to make the commitment to yourself and hold true to it.
I promise you one thing, when you reach that point of your journey where you have reached transformation, you will be so grateful that you never gave up on yourself.
This process is about the mental and spiritual connection. Focus on harnessing your mind and improving yourself as a person, rather than focusing on the body you see in the mirror.
Motivation will come and go and a lot of the times you will not feel like getting the job done. It is here where keeping the focus on the mental benefits vs. the physical aspects top of mind, that will help you to keep going.
Motivation to look a certain way, will fade on you over the course of years.
Having the motivation to become the best version of yourself will never fade.
Use your development of character as your main driving force and you will go far.
