The road to your dreams can be the longest, loneliest road out there.
It can be so lonely and such a difficult road, that most people will compromise their dreams and their goals to take an easier path.
There will be people who will say things like; “you’re wasting your time” , “you are not going to make money doing that” , “go after a more lucrative career” , “that is going to take you forever”—the list goes on.
You must believe that there is merit in following your dreams.
You must believe that there is something special deep down inside you, something that only a higher power could have blessed you with and it is your direct duty to make that vision a reality.
Here Are 5 Important Reasons Why You Should Never Quit On Yourself:
1. Persistence Pays Off
In life, you will always encounter struggle along the way.
Your life will always be filled with challenges and setbacks, and success will be highly dependent on you pushing through those barriers.
Persistence is something that is cultivated deep within yourself and deep within your struggles.
When you don’t give up, you develop a different animal inside of yourself that provides grit and a strong mental fortitude that can help you to continue moving forward through life’s future challenges.
The most successful people in the world took years to achieve their success. They didn’t do it by starting something and then stopping. They got to where they are today, by accepting the challenges and finding ways to get through them until they achieved the success they were after.
2. Earn and Own Your Self-Respect
Growing up as a kid, I struggled with earning self-respect.
I struggled because I never accomplished anything that I deemed special.
I had never started something that was important to me and then taken it through the finish line.
By taking on a commitment and seeing it through to completion, you build your self-esteem, you build your confidence.
Confidence is not something that someone just has, as the world likes to make it seem.
No.
This is where the confusion lies.
If you are reading this, and you struggle with confidence, self-esteem, a lack of self-respect; it is right now where I want you to understand that there is a remedy to heal this piece of your life—even if your lack of confidence or self-esteem stems from abuse.
The way you properly heal yourself is by earning your own self-respect.
You earn this piece of yourself by figuring out what you want to dedicate your life to and then committing to those things until you reach your destination.
It is at the moments where you quit, or temporarily pause on your commitments that you are damaging yourself.
No matter the challenges that you face, you put your head down and you just keep working.
You learn to lay your brick as best as you can, each day.
Over years of continuous dedication, you will begin to feel the healing that is taking place inside of your soul.
3. It’s Your Best Shot At Reaching Success
When you don’t quit, you increase your likelihood of reaching success.
Going after your goals, can be a lonely road. You may find that there are not too many people around you that are chasing the exact same things you are.
For this reason you will find yourself, more often than not, putting in work alone.
Throughout your journey to success, as we touched on earlier, you are going to reach dark moments where you may feel like putting an end to your journey prematurely. This is normal.
What you don’t want to do is give into that moment of weakness.
Tell yourself, “I could quit, but not today.” Keep telling yourself this each time you reach those impulsive moments.
“I can take a break from this—just not today.”
The brain is sensitive to many different things and often times we are juggling so much in life that we will reach vulnerable moments. During these vulnerable moments is where you want to push yourself and at the same time practice positive self-talk. Do not beat yourself up.
Simply do the best that you can within that moment, and then make sure to get some good sleep that night. The following day, you attack again.
Rinse and repeat.
Never quitting on yourself and your goals is the only sure-shot you have to eventually reaching success.
4. Positive Influence To Help Others
Whether you believe it or not, there are people all around you that could use a positive influence in their lives.
I personally believe there is not enough positivity out there in the world, today.
Thanks to the power of the internet, you can go out and find it when you need it, like here, now.
However, there is a completely different power that is transferred when you are able to be that positive influence for someone else, simply by leading by example.
Never quitting on yourself, creates power, and that power can be used to help other people.
There is no better reward in life than to touch the heart and soul of another human and lead them down the right path simply by carrying out your best.
Your example can motivate others to keep going, even when they feel like giving up.
Don’t underestimate the power of your example.
5. Carry No Regrets
There was a study done within nursing homes, asking elderly adults questions about life. They conducted a survey and asked people who were in their last years of life, what was the most difficult part of life and what would they go back and do differently.
The most consistent and popular answer; never going after their dreams with an absolute relentless pursuit.
The most difficult part of life for these seniors was living in regret.
Regret is something that sticks with you for years on end.
Think about that one-second decision that it took for you to quit on your goal all because things got too difficult.
Yes, that temporary discomfort is now gone. It has been eliminated because you quit.
But the feeling of regret is there, and it will most likely never go away.
It is better to keep going and keep pushing yourself to exhaustion, than it is to quit and live with regret for the rest of your life.
When you push through life’s challenges and you push past your limits, you can always look back at your life and live with feelings of satisfaction and self-respect.
You’ll never have to live with doubt and wonder what things would have been like if you just had gone one more day.
“No matter how hard it is, No matter how hard it gets, No matter how long it takes, No matter what others say, No matter what others think—I will finish.”
