One of the biggest shifts that can take place in a persons life is when they realize that they are an adaptation machine.
It’s at this point, where you realize that you can change at any given moment.
The power that lies within you is defined when you really want something bad enough that you are willing to take on the challenges that come along with it.
12 months is a solid amount of time for just about anybody to change.
When I use the term “change“, I mean actual change—a recognizable difference that cannot be denied or ignored.
Let’s dive in a bit further..
Here Are 8 Ideas That Can Change Your Life In 12 Months:
1. Stop Complaining And Appreciate How Lucky You Are Each Day
You ever have some time to yourself where you just it back in your chair, reflect on your life, and just get a rush of emotions of just how much you have in your life?
A lot of people will over-look this because they may lack certain material things in their life.
We don’t stop to appreciate how much we currently have, because we are too focused on the future and what we want next.
When we don’t have those things, or when we are not where we want to be, one can easily lose sight of just how lucky and blessed they truly are.
Start with the human body. Learn to give thanks and appreciate the body that you have.
It may not be where you want it to be, but the beauty is within the understanding that you can change.
Stop complaining and looking at things through a negative lens. Emotions of weakness, worry, anxiety—all stem from living in the future.
Create a practice, a discipline, within each day where you bring yourself to center. Bring your mind and body to a state of balance and control.
This all begins with being grateful for where you are right now and for the ability to experience a journey where you get to seek the change you want.
2. Embrace Loneliness And Reinvent Yourself In The Process
There is a stigma in society that labels loneliness as some point of weakness, or malice. People think because you prefer to spend time alone that there must be something wrong with you—strange, but true.
What is important, is how you choose to live your life and create perspective.
Being alone can provide you great insight on who you really are.
Isolation is a great way to face your problems and also heal from those same problems that you have been carrying for years.
When we are surrounded by people, we often fall into echo chambers, and those echo chambers disturb our own perception and natural ability to think and see clearly.
Sometimes all you need is 12 months to dedicate to yourself without interruption for you to quiet the mind and truly create change.
3. Say Goodbye To The People Who Don’t Bring Positive Energy Into Your Life
Your energy is valuable. You only have so much of it to create, give and then hope to have enough left over for yourself.
In life, if you are not careful, you can run into a lot of friends, family, co-workers, acquaintances, that will easily rob you of your energy if you let them.
Aside from your physical health, your peace of mind and positives perspectives are all you truly have in this world.
We need to rely on our positivity and mental clarity to help ourselves navigate properly through all of life’s challenges.
If you have people in your life who don’t want to see you succeed, people who are breathing negativity into your life through their actions or words, then you need to seriously audit yourself and your circle.
Are negative people going to help you move the needle forward in your life?
Think about it this way…
Ask yourself to name a famous actor.
Now, ask yourself to name a famous acting critic…
You probably can’t.
That is because people with negative energy are easily forgotten.
Audit your circle meticulously, your circle is a huge indicator of who you become.
4. Create A Strict Morning Routine And Stick To It
With the way society functions today, most people don’t have the time to stop and think about their morning routine.
Sure, you may have something in place, but when was the last time you actually zeroed in on everything you do each morning?
A strict morning routine that you can adhere to each day and execute year over year is important for your overall development as a person.
Your morning routine typically involves all the things that you value and you know you should do each morning before your day begins.
Take a pad and a pencil and start to sketch out your morning routine. Make a list of all of the things that sum up your morning and then make a list of things that you would like to take out and add in.
In doing an activity like this, you begin to see how real change takes place. It’s about auditing your current behaviors and making them better.
5. Pick One Skill You Want To Cultivate And Put All Your Effort Into Developing It
Every single human that walks this earth is in some shape, way, or form, a genius.
You may not know it just yet, or perhaps you just haven’t figured out your game just yet. But I can promise you that if you continue to work on yourself and your skills—you will only get closer to the dream.
The problem is that often times society has their own views or opinions on what they believe you should do with your life.
These opinions dilute your own thoughts, desires, and aspirations.
It only makes it harder for you to zero in and pinpoint exactly what it is you feel you were destined to do.
More often than not, we end up trying to become a jack of all trades, but a master at none.
We end up taking on all of these different things in life that we fail to pour all of our genius into one thing.
A great piece of advice to anyone reading this is to really zero in on one thing that you are either good at, or have no clue about, but you know that your desire to improve and learn is there.
Apply 12 months of your time to one given skill that you really want to learn. Then show up every day and improve upon it, and seek mastery.
6. Commit To The Goals You Set And Never Look Back
Goal setting is the key ingredient to why some people are able to achieve monumental achievements within their lives.
It’s not because they are special or have God-given talent, it is because they created a goal within their mind and they chose to work at that goal and never look back.
Your success is ultimately tied to the goals that you set in place for yourself.
It doesn’t matter if you are 10, 20,30,40,50,60,70,80,90, or 100 years of age, goals should never run out.
When you reflect on your life and you can identify areas of opportunities, it makes all the difference.
Then you can set goals to improve those areas of your life and execute for years at a time without stopping.
You must be willing to set goals, commit to those goals, and then execute upon those goals for years and years on end.
That is “the secret” but shhh 🤫 don’t tell anybody…
7. Sweat Every Day To Boost Your Mood
I’m going to drop this gold nugget for anyone out there who is looking to take their life to the next level, but just doesn’t know how.
BREAK A RIDICULOUS SWEAT EVERY DAY!!!!
Most people equate the words exercise, workouts, gym, monotonous torture, to physical body results and attributes.
Very few people understand that exercising each day and breaking a sweat each day should be executed daily.
NOT because of the physical rewards it can bring, but for the MENTAL rewards.
Consistent, daily, exercise equates to strong mental health.
Point blank.
All you need is a 30 minute walk outside each day under sun to boost your mental game and physical game to the next level.
Many people overlook the power of walking outdoors and what benefits it can add to your life.
Make it a priority to go put on your shoes and get outside for a nice walk each day.
8. Fail forward. Learn From Every Mistake You Make
Fear.
As people, we are controlled by our fears.
We can easily be swayed away from our purpose during moments of failure and fear.
I believe it is the ones who can look fear in the face, who really stand a chance at winning at this game called life.
If you are in your teens, or twenties, reading this right now, take notes…
In life, you are going to be presented with countless opportunities, and within those opportunities there are going to be extreme moments of difficulty that are naturally associated with the territory.
If you don’t know how to overcome yourself during these difficult moments, you will fail.
And quite frankly, failure is okay.
Failure is a necessary stepping stone to success.
You won’t know why you continue to fail, but I am here to tell you the answer—poor character.
You have failed to build the necessary traits that are required in order to move from the start position.
You first must build your character, your foundation, and then you will have the necessary tools that can get you to the next level.
Until you make these corrections, you will continue to fail.
Don’t become fearful, but become faithful that you have been blessed with the necessary genetic makeup to overcome anything.
You must always be willing to fail forward.
Make your mistakes, take your bumps and bruises, learn from them, and keep moving forward.
You only truly fail, when you give up on the things that you love all because things got too hard.
The key is to keep going no matter what.
Remember that.
