Reading to your children is a timeless past time. In my family, we encourage books and reading. There are so many books out there that have such valuable story lines. In reading countless books to my three little girls before bed, I have found the following books to be a great buy for every child household.
Incredible YOU By: Dr. Wayne W. Dyer
During one of my children’s distance learning sessions, I overheard the teacher reading a story book to the kids in the class called Incredible YOU. The words were beautiful and extremely inspiring. It is a story that I think should be read to a child before bed as frequent as possible. It is written by Dr. Wayne W. Dyer and he explains how it is never too early to express and teach your child that they are unique and powerful beings. He believes and tries to teach to others that as people, we each posses everything we need within ourselves in order to reach true happiness and fulfillment.
The Energy Bus for Kids By: Jon Gordon
The Energy Bus for Kids is a special one. Kids have their own worries in their little worlds. They go through difficult times just like we do as adults. This is an excellent book for kids that teaches kids about positive energy and how they can pass that positive energy onto other kids that they interact with. No matter what difficulty or negativity that they experience, they do not need to internalize these events. They can reach within themselves to find strength and motivation to help them through life.
Way of the Warrior Kid By: Jocko Willink
I found this book through a podcast that I follow called Jocko Willink Podcast. Jocko is the author of this book and is a #1 New York Times-Bestselling Author for other adult books. Jocko is a Navy Seal who gives great advice on his podcast. In listening one day, he revealed that he was coming out with a children’s book Way of the Warrior Kid. I knew immediately it was something that I wanted to read to my girls before bed. They learned that you can improve yourself if you are willing to put in the work that it takes.
Charley the Bulldog’s Fantastic Fruit Stand By: Andy Frisella
I found this book series through another podcast that I follow. Andy Frisella is the author and he has a really good podcast. When he brought out his line of children’s books, I knew that I needed to buy those too. My kids really enjoy books that have anything to do with dogs. This book is about fun adventures with two bulldog’s and their animal friends. Charley the Bulldog’s Fantastic Fruit Stand in particular shows the perspective of Charley a hard working bulldog and his friend Otis a laid back, lazy bulldog.
Charley the Bulldog’s Daring Dreams By: Andy Frisella
Andy Frisella has a variety of different children’s book that you can research aside from these two that I have mentioned here. Charley the Bulldog’s Daring Dreams is a great read to your children if they like to dream about accomplishing big goals. The book goes into depicting the hard work that goes behind achieving big goals. In addition, promoting the ability to dream and imagine your kids achieving anything they set their little minds to.

If you have never read or heard of Chicken Soup for the Soul, and you like to read, I suggest you give this series a whirl. There is a plethora of them and all of them cover many interesting topics that help deal with self improvement. There is a whole lot of valuable lessons in this book. Think Positive for Kids is built off of a variety of different micro stories that will keep your kids attention. The book really goes into many different topics that children need to be informed about. These range from positive thinking, to the importance of self esteem and believing in yourself.

Learning about yourself and your self worth is important. Kids need to hear more about this as they are growing up, especially girls. I am Enough is written by Grace Byers who is known for her acting in the hit series show Empire. She devotes herself to empowering young girls around the world through her children’s books. She also has a second book that is called “I believe I can” that is also worth a peek.

Every child needs a good laugh. While sometimes this book excites my kids a little too much before bed, it is a must in our house. Amelia Bedelia is a big series set and it is just filled with fun, silly, humor that really gets little kids to laugh. I don’t think you ever get too old to sit back and listen to Amelia Bedelia’s Adventures.
