For Anyone Looking To Lose A Significant Amount Of Weight

Weight loss is something that I have battled with for years. It has always been and up and down kind of game and after a while, I just end up throwing in the towel.
Sound Familiar?
It’s something that many, many, people deal with. It can be one of the most frustrating and discouraging cycles to go through when you are trying to improve your health.
When someone wants to lose weight, drop body fat, improve muscle tone and make better eating decisions, we want results to come along with it. We don’t want to be putting in so much time and effort and not see results. I think it would drive any human insane.
Well, after years and years and years of trial and error, I found a groove, things started clicking. I began to notice a difference and it felt damn good to reap benefits from my hard work.
I started to think, well what have I been doing differently, that I wasn’t doing all those years? 🤔
Mind Searches for answer * — Journaling. ✍️
Journaling had made all the difference in my weight loss journey and I want to share it with you. My hope is that if it can work for me, it might just do something for you. I know how hard it can be for someone to struggle with their weight and I know what a low you can reach if you can’t figure it out, to the point where you give up.
Believe me, I get it.
Here Are 7 Reasons Why You Should Pick Up The Power Of Journaling For Weight Loss:
Goal Setting
Journaling for weight loss is going to help you in many areas, not just one. I will dive into those with you in a minute, but first let’s talk about journaling and goal setting.
If your goal is to get into better physical shape, then it should be written down.
Improving your over all mental and physical state is not some goal you just throw around and not really care about. Bettering yourself is a standard – a high one. When you want to improve your life, you write it down.
Too many people are over looking the power of writing things down. When you write something down, you are manifesting it into your world. It now has life and it is up to you whether you want to give it that life or not.
If you want to lose weight and get into better shape, you need to have clear and defined goals. You need to know exactly where you are going and how you plan to get there.
Tracking
Tracking was a big key player in my journey and my ability to reach success. I blew by my goals 💨 I reached all time highs, things that I hadn’t achieved physically in over a decade. All thanks to tracking through journaling.
Journaling made all the difference when it came to tracking. It is a great way for me to start each morning. By journaling on your weight loss journey, you have opportunities to track the following things:
- Date
- Weight
- Weight loss
- Strength
- Activities
- Daily Activity Time
- Measurements
- Lessons
- Wins
- Nutrition
- Sleep
- How you feel
- Water Intake
- What works and what doesn’t
These are just some of the most vital things you want to be tracking when it comes to weight loss. Again, if you have significant weight to lose ahead of you, journaling for weight loss is going to be a game changer for you.
The value in journaling for weight loss is that it is the perfect tool for someone to really zero in with focus at the task at hand. Let’s face it, if it were easy to walk around with 10 % body fat, everyone would be doing it. On the contrary obesity is sky rocketing. So, this is no walk in the park. Any tool that can help you get things in order on your weight loss journey is a positive.
Venting
If you have really been struggling with your weight over the years, then you know just how frustrating this process can be. Journaling can be a great place for you to let out your frustrations.
Not only are you able to vent, but you are also simultaneously tracking that frustration simply by writing it down. This provides you data to look back on in the future.
Frustration is part of this game. It goes back to me emphasizing the fact that if you want to lose weight and cut body fat, you need to be willing to dabble in the uncomfortable. This is actually a good thing, because this is where we can identify our weak points and use them to improve.
Correcting Behavior
From my experience, being over weight stems from a poor relationship with food. If you are not careful and aware, binge eating can be a real problem when trying to lose weight. If you struggle with your weight like I have, then you know what it is like to fall off track and over eat. It can easily become a vicious cycle if you don’t correct it.
This is the same thing as eating a clean diet throughout the week, and then consuming a massive amount of calories over the weekend. It’s not healthy and it will kill your results long term. You end up spinning wheels forever, which in turn, leads to quitting.
By using journaling as a tool to help you correct these behaviors, you find a way to hedge those bad behaviors and keep yourself on track towards the behaviors that are producing you the results you have been searching for.
Accountability
When it comes to weight loss it’s You vs. You. Nobody is coming to save you. You either do it for yourself and your future, or you stay the same and watch yourself move in the wrong direction year after year.
You are going to need to find a way to hold yourself accountable throughout your mission. Journaling provides that opportunity. If you hold yourself to journaling each morning before you begin your day, you will be able to hold yourself accountable with journaling.
By journaling first thing in the morning you will be able to set the tone for your day. You can organize and align everything that you need to accomplish for the day on paper and in your mind too. This way, you know in which direction you are heading towards right out the gate.
When you stumble upon those days where you made some choices that pushed you back (because you will run into these days) write everything down and hold yourself accountable to make improvements and get right back on track.
Increased Self-Awareness
The power of journaling is immense, the amount of growth that can stem from this one habit repeated consistently over time, is just outrageous. If you know, you know. If you don’t know, then you are sleeping on something that can improve your life tremendously.
When you are looking to drop significant weight, or even just a few pounds, you need to listen to your body. The only way to listen to your body effectively is to be in tune with it.
How do you get in tune with your body?
Movement and Nutrition.
When you are exercising daily, over time you will build a mind body connection that you would never have been able to do otherwise. We find that symbiosis through moving our bodies, pushing ourselves physically and mentally. By writing about your journey and reflecting on your journals, you will be able to identify key ingredients that will help you achieve your weight loss goals.
Trophy Moments
There is nothing like hitting new personal bests on your weight loss journey. You work so hard, you put forth so much effort that once you blow by milestones they become some pretty big achievements. Trophy moments as I like to call them.
Saying to yourself that you are going to lose 70 pounds is nothing in comparison to actually doing it and achieving it. When you start to hit that 10 pound mark, then that 20 pound mark, then that 30 pound mark and it just keeps climbing, it becomes one of your best moments within yourself. You are proving to yourself that you keep your word. That breeds confidence and self-esteem.
Journaling for weight loss helps you to embrace those great moments and it keeps track of those milestones until you need to remind yourself of the greatness that lies within you.
Staying The Course
I can’t tell you how many times things have been going great for me and then things just veer rather quickly. When I go to get myself back on track, I have forgotten what I was doing that was working for me in the first place.
Don’t let this happen to you. While you may think you have the greatest memory, the reality is there are a-lot of different facets that go into cutting body fat and if you are not tracking properly, you will easily lose your place.
When you see that scale dropping, clothes fitting more comfortably, sleep is improving, and you are feeling great — stay the course.
Sometimes the only way to stay the course is to hold yourself accountable each morning, and keep a detailed track record of what you are doing.
Pro tip: By writing down what is working for you in a detailed fashion, in the future, if you ever want to lose a few pounds, you already have the magic formula. No need to start guessing and wasting time.
Conclusion
If you want to succeed at weight loss you need to be willing to do difficult, uncomfortable things and run through those moments like you own them. If you are un-willing to do things because they are difficult, or because they require patience and time, then I’m sorry, but you aren’t ready for weight loss. It’s a hard truth.
But, if you have reached a point in your life where you are ready to turn your life around and lose those pounds that have been holding you back, then give the power of journaling for weight loss a try. I believe that if it worked for me, it can do the same for you.
Good luck! 🙏
